Streva Privacy Policy

Streva, Inc. (“Streva,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) builds AI-powered dictation, translation, and text transformation tools for macOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit our websites, install or use our software, or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here and to our Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Eligibility and AuthorityHow Streva Works (and What That Means for Privacy)

  • Cloud + Local Processing. Streva uses secure cloud services to deliver real-time speech recognition, translation, and text transformation. To help you stay in control, we also store transcript history locally on your device unless you explicitly choose otherwise.
  • Privacy Modes:

Private Mode (default): We process your audio and text only to fulfill your requests and do not retain dictated content after the request completes. Users stay in Private Mode unless they opt into Contribute Mode.

Contribute Mode (optional opt-in): You can allow anonymized usage data to help us train and improve our models. You can switch this on or off in Settings at any time.

  • Contextual Enhancements (optional): Features that use on-screen context are opt-in. They read relevant snippets to improve accuracy, but do not store or transmit them once the request completes.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account details. Email, name, password, and profile settings.
  • Payments. If you upgrade, our payment processor (currently Stripe) collects billing address and payment details. Streva only receives limited billing metadata (e.g., subscription status).
  • Support & feedback. Messages, bug reports, feature requests, or survey responses you submit to us.

B. Information Generated Through Use

  • Audio & text inputs. Spoken phrases, copied text, and transformation requests that you submit.
  • Outputs. Transcripts, translations, and rewritten text generated by Streva.
  • Usage data. Session timestamps, feature usage counts, words processed, crash logs, device model, OS version, app version, performance diagnostics, and contextual settings (e.g., language preferences).
  • Shortcuts & automation events. Interaction with keyboard shortcuts, automation triggers, or integrations you authorize.

C. Information From Third Parties

  • Third-party accounts. If you sign in with or connect to another service (e.g., Apple Sign-In), we receive identifiers and basic profile info per your permissions.
  • Service providers. Analytics vendors, cloud infrastructure, speech and language model providers, email providers, and customer support tools may supply diagnostic or metadata to operate the Services.

We do not knowingly build shadow profiles or buy consumer data from data brokers.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers. Trusted partners who host infrastructure, process payments, deliver email, provide analytics, or run AI models on our behalf. They must follow strict confidentiality and security obligations.
  • Legal and safety authorities. If required by law, subpoena, or governmental request, or to enforce our Terms, protect rights, property, or safety.
  • Business transfers. If Streva is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the new owner with appropriate safeguards.
  • With your direction. When you connect Streva to another app or service, we share data necessary to complete that integration per your instructions.

Third-party model providers we work with do not use your data to train their models unless you explicitly grant permission.

6. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking

  • Web cookies & local storage. Used on our website for sign-in, session continuity, and basic analytics.
  • App telemetry. Our macOS app records diagnostic events (e.g., crashes, performance metrics) using privacy-respecting telemetry.
  • Do Not Track. Because uniform standards are not yet widely adopted, we currently do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

You can manage cookie preferences in your browser and adjust analytics participation within the app settings or by contacting us.

7. Data Retention

  • Account & billing records: Kept while your account is active and as required by law (e.g., tax reporting).
  • Usage metrics: Retained for as long as needed for analytics and operations, typically in aggregated or de-identified form.
  • Contribute Mode snippets: Retained only for the duration needed to improve models, then anonymized or deleted.
  • Support communications: Retained to help resolve issues and improve service quality.
  • Transcript history: Stored on your device until you delete it.

If you close your account or request deletion, we will delete or de-identify personal data within a reasonable timeframe unless retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes).

8. Data Security

We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including:

  • TLS encryption for data in transit
  • Encrypted storage of sensitive data at rest
  • Access controls with least-privilege principles
  • Monitoring and logging for unauthorized access attempts
  • Routine security reviews and incident response procedures

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If we learn of a security breach affecting personal information, we will notify affected users as required by law.

9. International Data Transfers

Streva operates using cloud infrastructure that may be located in the United States or other countries. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States (and potentially other jurisdictions) where data-protection laws may differ. We use contractual and technical protections to safeguard cross-border transfers in accordance with applicable law.

10. Your Rights and Controls

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct or update inaccurate data
  • Request deletion (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Export data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Submit requests by emailing support@streva.ai. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

California Residents
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and opt out of “sales” or “sharing” of personal information. Streva does not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. You can exercise CCPA rights by contacting support@streva.ai.

European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland
Streva is the data controller for personal data collected via the Services. Our legal bases include performance of contract, legitimate interests (e.g., providing and securing the Services), compliance with legal obligations, and consent (for specific features like Contribute Mode). If you believe we have not adequately addressed a concern, you have the right to contact your local supervisory authority.

11. Children’s Privacy

Streva retains all rights, title, and interest in and to the Services, including all software, interfaces, designs, text, graphics, and logos, except for Customer Content and third-party materials. Except as expressly allowed, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Services or reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code.

12. Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may include links or integrations to third-party websites, applications, or services. Streva is not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Review their privacy policies before providing personal information or enabling integrations.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes. When we make material updates, we will notify you (for example, via email or an in-app message) and update the “Effective” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after the effective date means you accept the revised policy.
